    Target Audience: Spanish speaking Business Owners, Non-Profit Business Leaders/Staff/Board, and Prospective Business Owners Length of Presentation: 2 hours, lecture and discussion Objectives: At the end of this session, you will be able to: 1) Understand primary functions and components of a multi-year strategic plan/business plan. 2) Determine who should participate in the planning process and how to engage them. 3) Complete a basic SWOT analysis for your business/project. 4) Evaluate readiness to begin a comprehensive strategic/business plan. Workshop Description: Are you hoping to grow your business or non-profit organization but don’t know quite where to start? All businesses, whether they be for profit or non-profit, should have a detailed strategic plan. Participants will learn key components in the strategic planning process and how to engage the appropriate managers, board members, staff, volunteers, and/or stakeholders in the process. This workshop offers a roadmap for Spanish speaking business owners and non-profit leaders who seek to build a successful business model. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the strategic planning from start to finish as well as some practical tools to use along the way. Order of Topics/Content: Session consists of discussion, presentations and on-line presentations, other medium: 1) Brief introductions—Small Business Center, Presenter 2) What is a strategic plan? 3) Why are strategic plans fundamental to successful non-profit development? 4) Who should participate in the planning process and how do you engage them? 5) What is a SWOT analysis and how do you apply one to strategic planning processes? 6) How do you develop a simple yet comprehensive plan to guide your organization? 7) How often do you revisit and revise your strategic plan? 8) Summary – Q&A 9) Course Evaluation
