The Caldwell Arts Council, a non-profit agency who’s mission is to maintain an awareness and appreciation of cultural arts in Caldwell County, operates a monthly art exhibit at its main gallery on College Avenue. Exhibits change each month with an opening reception usually the first Friday of each month. The Arts Council also operates the Art-in-Healing Gallery at Caldwell Memorial Hospital (321 Mulberry Street, Lenoir).
Do you like a good scavenger hunt? What a better day to spend in downtown Lenoir or all of Caldwell County exploring the community in search of sculpture art. Head to downtown Lenoir and keep your eyes open for sculpture. Pick up your sculpture walking tour guide at the Caldwell Arts Council or at the Visitor Information Center on U.S. 321.

Downtown Lenoir is more like “a town inside a gallery” with an outdoor gallery that adorns the downtown streetscape in an ever-changing outdoor gallery known as Tucker’s Sculpture Streetscape Gallery (named for the first settlement in Lenoir: Tucker’s Barn). Art is usually found inside buildings or art galleries, but Tucker’s Streetscape Sculpture Gallery displays pieces in planters along Main Street and West Avenue in Lenoir. The downtown gallery displays sculptures for a period of six months, after which they are replaced with new pieces. The artwork is available for sale, with new pieces being installed as sculptures are sold. Even if pieces aren’t sold, they are replaced around every six months.

Get a taste of old-timey mountain heritage at Bolick and Traditions Pottery in the Blackberry Community, just south of Blowing Rock. The farm features an old-timey village, two handmade pottery shops and a mountain stream flowing through the property. The family hosts several events throughout the year, including kiln openings in the late spring and late fall, as well as live mountain music and dancing on Sundays during the summer.
